  • 2024 Bank Holiday Drive & BBQ

What a wonderful afternoon and evening. 47 members in their bright and cheerful outfits enjoyed a sunny afternoon bowling and the winning rink, Peter Yarwood, Graham Lavender and Julie Aiken carried away the fantastic Lidl’s bars of chocolate. The “Spider” was won by Jeff Turnbull who received a bottle of gin donated by David Wells. Nearly 70 members attended the afternoon/evening social and with chairs and tables up on the top grass where quickly into the bar and dancing and chatting away. A big thank you to Charlie Watkins and Colin Marshall for slaving over the BBQ and the ladies who produced tasty salads to accompany the sausages and burger baps. Daniel Robinson’s supplied 70 ice creams which quickly disappeared to finish off the eats. A big thank you also to Graham Lavender for his expertise as our resident DJ and Quiz Master and James Kelly for supplying the sound system. Once again members came up trumps with a multitude of raffle prizes – the draw finished off a very successful and enjoyable event. Finally a BIG THANK YOU to all the bar staff for all their hard work not just for this event but all the events we have as they are always there serving us. • 2024 Mens Presidents Day

Forty one men from the men’s section had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of bowling to celebrate The President, Keith Ingram’s first year as President. It started off with The Spider which was won by Dave Wells. The bowling was friendly, but as always, teams were out to win, but that was all forgotten when they joined other members to enjoy a delicious meal prepared and served by the ladies. The winning team was Ian Marshall, Ron Weston and Peter Humphreys with a score of 23 well played to them. The bar was busy, the weather perfect and the tombola somehow managed to ensure everybody won a prize. Well done everybody who made it such a successful day. • 2024 Ladies Presidents Day 3 August

A good turnout of 28 ladies who played in the Ladies Presidents Day event and had a lovely afternoon chatting and playing bowls. But mainly chatting 🤣. Wendy Barron bowled the perfect shot to win the spider. Julie Aiken won the day with a score of +18 closely followed by Sally Simmons +13 and Lin Watkins +12. The afternoon was well supported by a few husbands and more importantly, female members that have been a part of the club for many years who came out of retirement to support their fellow female colleagues. The day ended with a lovely buffet, more chatting and a raffle prize for every contestant and female supporters. A BIG THANK YOU to Val Hicks for organising such a wonderful afternoon.
