  1. Mars Garden 60s Band Live: Dec 2024

    A wonderful evening with this great band. We’re aware of some who like them but missed them this time around. The good news is that we have booked them for Sunday 6th April 2025 and again for Valentines Day in 2026 which is a Saturday.

  2. New Years Eve Celebration 2024

    The Social Committee send you Happy New Year greetings and thank you for your support in all our endeavours in the past year. We enjoyed seeing in the New Year with many of you. We are greatly blessed by having our own resident DJ and a good time was had by all.

  3. Awards Night 2024

    After reading this information make sure you take a look at the photos of the Awards Night. There is a link to the photos at the end of the information.
    A great evening with over 60 people attending to see the following prize winners accept their cups and tokens from presidents Keith Ingram and Val Hicks. At the end of the presentation Sue Wastell presented Lynda Reed, who is retiring after three years as Ladies Captain, with a token and words of thanks for all she has done for the section whilst in office.  Roger Attridge presented Graham Lavender with a “bottle” in appreciation of all his hard work running music quizzes and generally supplying music at social events. Roger also thanked Dave Wells for his tireless work setting up and running the club website and his photographic skills recording events throughout the season. Dave was presented with a token by way of thanks. Vic Coles was thanked for all his hard work throughout the season organising the competitions and the Awards Ceremony.

  4. Bowling Club Quiz 2024

    • Please bring your tickets with you on the night.
    • The bar will be open at 7pm for 30 mins before we begin promptly at 7.30pm and again before the meal is served in the interval.

  5. ECWBA Annual Luncheon & Awards Event held at Stock Brook Manor Country Club 2024

    Seven of our ladies Top Club squad attended Wednesdays lunch this week to collect our Runner-up Prize for the 2024 season, ten years after receiving it in 2014.
    Hope we do not wait so long to do well in Top Club again or even Win!!!

  6. Renovation of the Green Sept 2024

    A big thank you on behalf of Ron Ship and the Green team to everybody who came along this morning (23/9/24) and gave a hand as without your help, we couldn’t have got it all done in the one day, and no need for a visit to the club on Tuesday morning. A very big thank you to Camilla Coles and Linda Turnbull for their help in providing the refreshments to everybody it was much appreciated. It was also very nice seeing one of our new lady members Gillian coming down and getting stuck in. Once again many thanks from Ron and the Green team. The photos hopefully show you there is a lot to do.

  8. Bank Holiday Drive & BBQ 2024

    What a wonderful afternoon and evening. 47 members in their bright and cheerful outfits enjoyed a sunny afternoon bowling and the winning rink, Peter Yarwood, Graham Lavender and Julie Aiken carried away the fantastic Lidl’s bars of chocolate. The “Spider” was won by Jeff Turnbull who received a bottle of gin donated by David Wells. Nearly 70 members attended the afternoon/evening social and with chairs and tables up on the top grass where quickly into the bar and dancing and chatting away. A big thank you to Charlie Watkins and Colin Marshall for slaving over the BBQ and the ladies who produced tasty salads to accompany the sausages and burger baps. Daniel Robinson’s supplied 70 ice creams which quickly disappeared to finish off the eats. A big thank you also to Graham Lavender for his expertise as our resident DJ and Quiz Master and James Kelly for supplying the sound system. Once again members came up trumps with a multitude of raffle prizes – the draw finished off a very successful and enjoyable event. Finally a BIG THANK YOU to all the bar staff for all their hard work not just for this event but all the events we have as they are always there serving us.   9. Mens Presidents Day 2024

    Forty one men from the men’s section had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of bowling to celebrate The President, Keith Ingram’s first year as President. It started off with The Spider which was won by Dave Wells. The bowling was friendly, but as always, teams were out to win, but that was all forgotten when they joined other members to enjoy a delicious meal prepared and served by the ladies. The winning team was Ian Marshall, Ron Weston and Peter Humphreys with a score of 23 well played to them. The bar was busy, the weather perfect and the tombola somehow managed to ensure everybody won a prize. Well done everybody who made it such a successful day.   10. Ladies Presidents Day 3 August 2024

    A good turnout of 28 ladies who played in the Ladies Presidents Day event and had a lovely afternoon chatting and playing bowls. But mainly chatting 🤣. Wendy Barron bowled the perfect shot to win the spider. Julie Aiken won the day with a score of +18 closely followed by Sally Simmons +13 and Lin Watkins +12. The afternoon was well supported by a few husbands and more importantly, female members that have been a part of the club for many years who came out of retirement to support their fellow female colleagues. The day ended with a lovely buffet, more chatting and a raffle prize for every contestant and female supporters. A BIG THANK YOU to Val Hicks for organising such a wonderful afternoon.

  11. Congratulations to NWE Dunmow C Team 2024

    The C Team finished in second place in the North West Essex League and got a promotion. Well done to the C team and to their Skip Peter Yarwood.

  12. Debbie Sales won the Ladies County singles final on 27 July 2024

    Congratulations to Debbie winner of the Essex County Singles Debbie said the County Final were played at Falcon Bowls club on a fast green with some tricky lines in it. I started off slowly being 4-0 down but gradually pulled back finding the lines better than my opponent who then started to come back but eventually I took the title 21-12. A title that I have always wanted to win so really happy. Debbie will represent Essex & Dunmow at the National Championships at Leamington Spa in August.

  13. Annie Monk Trophy 2024

    Quarter finals Roger Attridge, Alan Reed, Debbie Sales and Val Hicks won their quarter finals against Steeple Bumstead on Friday 26th. We asked for your support and we got it. We want to give a BIG THANK you to you all the members who came to support them, it means so much to the team to know they are all supported by you all.

  14. Our Ladies County Triple Team 2024

    The Ladies Triple Team were unlucky in their Semi final at Tiptree on 14 July 2024 Unfortunately Debbie Sales, Doreen Butcher and Tina Howard were beaten by a very strong team from Essex County. They came within 2 shots of them so didn’t disgrace themselves. They would like to say a big thank you to Sheila Pithers who found her way there to support the ladies. Along with a lovely flower in her hat !! Into the semi final On Tuesday 12 June 2024 Debbie Sales, Doreen Butcher and Tina Howard beat Connaught in the D area final of the Ladies County Triples played at Harlow. This puts them through to the semi finals to be played at Tiptree on 14th July. 1 more game to get through to the nationals ! Good luck to our ladies.

  15. Ladies Team through to the final of the Top Club 2024

    Congratulations to our Ladies Team through to the final of the Top Club The ladies triumph again at Lionmede today (13 July 24) in the Top Club semi final -v- Rayleigh. They won 3 out of the 4 games with the shot difference 71 – 61. The Essex final should be on Sat 27th July at Falcon Bowling Club. Opponents as yet unknown. Top Club is a county competition played against other Clubs in Essex D division (12 in total). By winning today Dunmow is through to the semi final which will be on 13th July on a neutral green. The competition consists of 1 x singles, 1x pairs, 1 x triples, 1 x fours and a reserve – 11 ladies in total. Todays team was: Doreen Butcher, Debbie Sales, Tina Howard, Lin Watkins, Frances Lavender, Val Hicks, Sue Waite, Lynda Reed, Sue Wastell, Maxine Watling and Camilla Coles. Charlie Watkins was the umpire and Linda White marked the singles game.

  16. ECBA Shield 2024

    Congratulation to: Dave Wastell and the others who are through to the next round of the ECBA Shield 16 players from our club played against Stock in the ECBA Shield. It’s played with 4 teams, 4 players in each team with 2 woods each and played at home and away at the same time. We had an overwhelming victory on all rinks and are through to the next round. Dave wants to give a big THANK YOU to all the players for enduring the very bad weather but still we all come out as winners.

  17. Ladies Two Woods Day winners 2024

    Congratulations to Frances 2024 winner of the Ladies Two Woods Day. Runner up was Belinda Cogswell. Twenty ladies entered and played round robin matches in groups of five. The four semi finalists were Frances Lavender -v- Tina Howard and Lynda Reed -v- Belinda Cogswell. The tensed up husbands sat watching the final well apart on the bench (see link below for the photos).

  18. Mens Two Woods Day winners 2024

    The day started with a briefing from Danny and then 30 players divided into 5’s over 6 rinks and played a “round robin” within their rink. By process of elimination the 8 quarter finalists i.e. winner and best 2nd player went through to the quarter final.
    The quarter finals players were: Danny O’Donovan -v- John Cogswell, Mike Ferris -v- Chris Barrett, Dave Eaton -v- Dave Wastell and Ron Weston -v- Ed Kelly.
    The winners who went through to the semi finals were Danny O’Donovan -v- Mike Ferris and David Eaton -v- Ed Kelly.
    Six ends were battled out and the worthy finalists were, Ed Kelly and Mike Ferris who entertained spectators with some excellent bowling. Eventually Mike Ferris pulled ahead and came out victorious. Well done to Mike for winning the trophy and a voucher, and Ed a voucher as runner up.
    Sorry Danny you did not repeat your success of last year but well done for organising an excellent day and Linda for the admin work involved.
