Message of thanks from Suffolk team
On behalf of everyone from Suffolk that attended the Amy Rose Regional Qualifier at Dunmow today, I would like to thank you for your outstanding hospitality.
We had a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
The green was in superb condition and was a credit to your club.
We were also extremely grateful for the many helpers on hand throughout the day, whose attentiveness and willingness to assist ensured everything ran smoothly.
Your club hosted the event exceptionally well, and the warm welcome we received was greatly appreciated by all who attended.
Thank you once again for making it such an enjoyable and memorable occasion. We look forward to visiting again in the future.
Many Thanks

2026 Leather Jacket Experience
I personally would like to thank all those who have helped getting rid of a very large number of Leather Jackets over the past week, tomorrow Saturday we will finish the job for this time. We may have to do it again in a couple of months, it’s been a very hard working week for the Green team and those who have come to Help, at the start of this endeavour I asked for help, I received four names, but thankfully others have come along with their brooms and given their time and labour. I would like to thank the following people because they deserve recognition for the work that’s happened over the last week, just so that we all could all enjoy an excellent green to play on.
They are:
Green Team: Ron Ship, Alan Reed, Graham Lavender, Ian Morris, Jeff Turnbull, Jim Ramage, Peter Beaton, Peter Norman, Ron Weston, Vic Coles, and Dave Wastell.
Helpers: Lynda Turnbull, Dave Green, Michael Rogers, Richard Coates, Barry Spencer, Steve Biddlecombe, Peter Sykes, Rick Broadley, Peter Yarwood & Chris Matthews.
Looking after the team; Camila Coles, Jackie Morris & Sue ShipIf I forgotten anybody, please forgive me BUT THANK YOU ALL .Dave Wastell
Thanks to Camilla and Jacky for providing drinks and snacks.

26 May 2026
Another close game in the Tony Allcock where Bocking Alliance won by 36 – 32.
Dunmow had started very well and was leading at the halfway point.
But lost one heavy end in each game that turned the match.
Thanks to the team who played well, (won 18 of the 36 ends) but was not going to be their day, better luck next year.

2026 Message from Dave Wastell: Fantastic News
Message from Dave Wastell.
I would like to let all members know that the County Green Testers came to Dunmow Bowling Club this morning.
They tested all the rinks and the colours. We had a fantastic result on all the rinks both ways.
Excellent results as everything has pasted for County Games can be played at Dunmow.
Dave wants to say a big thank you to Ron and his Green Team for their continue work maintaining the Green.
Thanks also goes to those members who turned up today for the testing.
2026 Coffee Morning
The charity coffee morning was very well attended and made £316.60 for the Alexia Wilson Trust, a local charity benefiting local people in great need.
We have many wonderful cake makers among us. Some cakes were served with hot drinks and others were taken home.
Books and puzzles were sold and the tombola table was well supported. Linda O’Donovan brought her beautiful hand made clocks, jewellery, key rings and artwork.
Thank you to all those who supported this event, either by coming along, donating goods or manning the kitchen and tables.
2026 Petanque: In our first competitive match against players from other clubs
On Sunday Morning 29th March some of our regular petanque players took part in our first competitive match against players from other clubs. A great morning, and it was enjoyed by all that took part. Thanks to Trevor Blows who kindly co-ordinated everything for us with the away players and ran the games. He also acted as adjudicator for close calls!
Below is his report on the games.
Dunmow Petanquers v Invitation League select.
The Dunmow group hosted an Essex IPL select team for their first competitive match on the newly refurbished terrain. On a chilly Sunday morning 15 players enjoyed the matches and the chance for some laughs and banter along the way! The result was a 4-2 win for the visitors but sociable sporting petanque was the real winner on the day.
Well done to Rick and Peter for winning their two games.
Thanks to Joy Green for organising the morning.

The games showed the experience gained over the past few years by the Dunmow players. The new surface is helping to improve their standard and there is a promising future for petanque at the club.
